Freshly Opened

My friend is extremely allergic ONLY FRESHLY tomatoes, even if it does not touch or eat. What is the cause?
When anyone to close his cuts open a tomato, it has a severe allergic reaction, including skin and redness and itching eyes and progression difficulty breathing. She did not touch or ingest a tomato to cause this problem. It was this reaction that can potentially become fatal, although it is not aware of the tomato is cut. She is not allergic to tomatoes or cooked cut tomatoes that have been chilled for several hours. I can only think that has to do with an airborne pathogens or protein, etc. that is released when the tomato is the first cut.
