Dollars Halves
There are many resources that can help coin collectors, old or new, to determine the value and the value of money at their disposal.
There are books, "Red Book" (a guide to U.S. Coins), "The Blue Book" (A Handbook of U.S. Coins), as well as bulletins and parts catalogs available in public libraries and private coin dealers / stores across the United States. There are also online guides to prices for U.S. coins available on the web site specifically NumisMedia.
For a summary of the price of each piece, the following are the values base of every penny, Penny or dime in the market.
The wheat from the United States a penny and distribute
The prices of these pieces made before 1958 or those that are dated 1940, are being purchased by coin dealers for two cents each, or less. Those made before 1940 command a price much higher - from a few cents more for a few dollars.
The silver-dollar
Silver-dollar U.S. especially those made before 1935, almost one ounce of silver in them. These coins are favorites of coin collectors and could be sold for more than their actual cash value if they are not damaged or does not severely.
Dollars Susan B. Anthony
If by chance you happen to get one of them as a change, the value is greater than one dollar and proof dollar Susan B. Anthony command even more. They are not easy out as they are not normally distributed.
Quarters, halves and dollars - the kind of the bicentenary
There were billions these parts made, and because there are so many of them, their value is usually just the face value. There are coin dealers who nevertheless pay ten percent of the nominal value as a premium for parts distributed bicentennial, and a few dollars more for those out of circulation.
A number freak
Believe it or not, there are two heads of rooms there. Basically, these are parts of two different designs on each face. These pieces were made in error and the error was not discovered until 2000. This kind of parts is usually called "mules." In 1999, it was found that a penny with Lincoln's face on one side and the image of Roosevelt dime, the other exists.
You find a coin that, it must be taken to a dealer in coins and self-evaluated to determine if it is authentic. If so, this piece could be auctioned and the command a few dollars more.
It is true that coin is essentially a value more than meets the eye.
